Install the Chrome extension
Media Sniffer is not on the Chrome Web Store. Install it once from the zip below using Chrome’s Developer mode.
Manual install
Chrome may warn that this extension is not from the Web Store. That is expected for private installs.
Steps
Download the zip
Use the Download button above to save the extension package to your computer.
Unzip the package
Extract it to a folder you will keep. Chrome loads that folder — do not delete it after installing.
Open Chrome extensions
In Chrome’s address bar, open chrome://extensions.
Enable Developer mode
Turn on the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner of that page.
Load unpacked
Click Load unpacked, then choose the extracted folder (it contains manifest.json).
Pin and use
Pin Media Sniffer from Chrome’s puzzle-piece menu. Open a video page, click the extension, then Find downloads. For YouTube bot checks, stay signed in on youtube.com.
What the extension adds
- Download options from the page you are viewing
- YouTube cookie sync when sign-in is required
- Pocket FM recording when a direct download is not available
Updates
When a new zip is available, replace the old folder contents and click Reload on chrome://extensions. Manually installed extensions do not auto-update.
