Media Sniffer

FAQ

Short answers about Media Sniffer, platform video downloaders, and the Chrome extension.

Is Media Sniffer free? Do I need to pay?

Yes — Media Sniffer is free to use. No payment is required, there is no subscription, and we do not ask for a credit card.

Which sites work in the web app?

YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Twitter/X, Reddit, and Twitch clips. Pocket FM needs the Chrome extension. All of these downloaders are free.

Is there a free YouTube / Instagram / TikTok video downloader page?

Yes — use the dedicated free downloader pages linked below, or paste any supported URL on the home page. No payment on any page.

Why is the extension not on the Chrome Web Store?

This project ships as a private sideload zip. You install it with Developer mode → Load unpacked. See the Install page for steps. The extension is also free.

YouTube says I need to sign in / I’m not a bot

Stay signed in on youtube.com, open the video with the extension, and use Find downloads so cookies can sync when the API issues a cookie sync token.

A Dailymotion (or other) link says not found

If the page is gone on the platform (for example HTTP 410), Media Sniffer cannot recover it. Try a URL that still plays in your browser.

Is downloading allowed?

Only download content you have the right to copy. Respect copyright and each platform’s terms. See Terms of use.

Where do files download?

The browser downloads the finished file to your default downloads folder after the server prepares it — at no cost.
