About Media Sniffer
A small personal toolkit for resolving and downloading media from common social platforms — web for quick links, Chrome extension when the page needs a browser session.
What it is
Media Sniffer is a self-hosted downloader: a Next.js web UI, an Express API (yt-dlp / ffmpeg), and an optional Chrome extension. It is built for private use, not as a commercial Web Store product.
Platforms
The web app supports YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Twitter/X, Reddit, and Twitch clips. Dedicated pages: YouTube video downloader, Facebook video downloader, Instagram video downloader, TikTok video downloader, and more in the footer. Pocket FM works best through the extension.
How downloads work
You paste a page URL. The server resolves available formats, then streams or merges the file for download. Links are validated against SSRF rules and rate limits.
